New here! - stefani - 03-05-2020 Hi I am new to the group! Suzanne Paterson invited me and I am so glad she did. Happy to be here!! RE: New here! - admin - 03-05-2020 Welcome to the group Stefani! I believe that you are in Louisiana, willing to drive and looking for breeder recommendations. I seem to remember that Cajun Ragdolls is in LA and is a reputable breeder. Hopefully someone else will chime in with recommendations. http://www.cajunragdolls.com/ RE: New here! - NatsFan78 - 03-05-2020 Welcome to the forum! RE: New here! - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 03-05-2020 Welcome Stefani!!! You're in the best possible place to get advice and recommendations about your search for a ragdoll!!! RE: New here! - stefani - 03-06-2020 Hi yes I am trying to get information on the difference between a breeder who is TICA and CFA. I don't know much as to what to ask or look for. And I don't want to get scammed RE: New here! - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 03-06-2020 (03-06-2020, 12:01 AM)stefani Wrote: Hi yes I am trying to get information on the difference between a breeder who is TICA and CFA. I'm new here and I've only purchased one ragdoll before, so there are others far more qualified than me to give you advice. Personally, I joined this forum because Ragdolls are a blue eyed pointed breed and I strongly oppose the breeding of Minks and Sepia's. They are unaccepted variants and I would never support a breeder who is breeding these variants. In regard to your question about CFA vs TICA... I found this link http://www.pandecats.com/x/comparing_cfa_and_tica.shtml (03-05-2020, 05:55 PM)admin Wrote: Welcome to the group Stefani! Oh the cajunragdoll kitties are so lovely!!! Both TICA and CFA are reputable registries and you should not avoid a Ragdoll because it is registered in one of them and not the other (some breeding cats being registered in both). TICA has been the largest registry for Ragdolls, since it was early in accepting Ragdolls in all three patterns. CFA now accepts all as well and has a higher percentage of Ragdoll registrations than it once did. Breeders tend to choose based on such factors as which has the most convenient shows for them - factors not relevant to pet buyers. RE: New here! - NatsFan78 - 03-06-2020 My Jaxon came from a TICA breeder. I wrote a post on here with a long list of questions to ask the breeder. I would also suggest asking for references. I was able to speak to multiple people who adopted from my breeder. There is actually a Facebook page for people with her cats to share pictures and information. One other suggestion I would make is to look for a breeder who breeds according to the breed standard. Good luck! I hope you find a wonderful breeder soon. RE: New here! - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 03-07-2020 Hi Stefani Please accept my sincere condolences for the boy you lost. I lost my dog over two years ago and it's only the last month or so that I've been able to come to terms with it without crying my heart out. |
