Wonder Boy!! - Ragstimes1 - 05-30-2020

Jamie had a shot of depo about 3-4 weeks ago and apparently it triggered his sugar up and the vet put him on insulin.  He went in last week and his glucose was 95, which is normal.  They took him down to 1/2 unit 2x a day.  Teeny dose.  Went in yesterday and his glucose was 75, which is borderline low.  Took him off of insulin.  We go back in 2 weeks to get it tested again.  He's gone from 7.6 pounds up to 9 pounds in 2 weeks so the weight gain is behind him too.  His good news spread thru the vet practice like crazy.  Since I didn't have to be up at 8 AM to feed and medicate him, he let me know at 8:15 he was really hungry.  I know now I can medicate him if necessary but it sure is nice to not give him the shots.  That's my wonder boy!! Great news, Sue. Jamie, you are a very good boy making sure that your Meowmy is up bright and early. Can't let her get lazy just because she is retired.

Jamie went yesterday for a 2 week follow up off insulin.  His glucose was 274, which is high but not high enough to be diabetic.  We got a new med prescribed for the open spot on his forehead which the staph showed a sensitivity to in the culture.   It's Erithromycin cream.  He goes back in another 2 weeks for a glucose test.  I've got my fingers crossed that it stays low enough that he does not need the insulin.  My vet thinks it was probably the last shot of depo that just took him right over the edge.  We're still hoping that as it gets out of his system that his sugar will go down.  Cross those paws!!  He is no longer draining his water dish every night, doing huge pees or losing weight.  He loves to snuggle on my lap and go to sleep there and likes to go take a nap on the porch since it's warmer out there.  What a sweetie!!
