Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 08-14-2022 After careful deliberation I decided it was time to downsize from a house to a flat. I feel terribly guilty about taking Fluff's enclosure away from him - but he seems to be coping remarkably well. He does need a lot of extra attention and is demanding many cuddles and lots of play-time. I got Covid immediately following the move and even though I had my 4th vaccine 25 days before I got Covid it still hit me pretty hard. I will write more about our move and hopefully post some pictures soon... Pam x RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - admin - 08-15-2022 Thanks for the update. I hope you're feeling better! RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 08-15-2022 Definitely on the mend thanks!!! Fluff is doing great too...I thought about getting him a new kitten to 'expand' his world but got him a new toy instead. One of those wand toys - with three different attachments - a ball with a bell - and two different feather attachments with bells. He's been carrying the ball around the flat and prefers it when it's not attached to the wand. RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - admin - 08-15-2022 He sounds like he's adjusting well and a pretty easy going boy. Gotta love Ragdolls for that! RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - HelenMac - 08-16-2022 Big changes for you what a shame getting covid after the move would make it hard to get settled into your new place. Hope your feeling better and managing to get settling in. Sounds like fluffy is enjoying his new toys. Take care hugs. Gotta love Ragdolls for that! Honestly - I thought he would take it much harder - but I think his true Ragdoll nature really shone through. As long as he's near me and has his special places (Reserved for Fluff) he's content. He loves a folded towel more than anything so I put one on the first shelf of the wardrobe and used blu-tac to keep it in place. He's indicated that it's NEVER acceptable to have both sliding doors of the wardrobe closed so I always have one side open for him... He was a bit clingy for the first week and I'm not sure if it was because of the move or because he knew I was sick. Probably a bit of both... He was thrilled with his new toys and I'm just so proud of the way he's adapting... Love my little guy so much... RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - JanH - 08-17-2022 Glad to read you are on the mend. In general, cats moving do well if their people and possessions are still there. They enjoy new space to explore and digest - and have the familiar as well. He inspects all HIS things to reassure himself they are in the correct and proper place but he also loves exploring and claiming the new spaces, the cupboards, the wardrobe and the linen press... RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - Smudge's Mom - 08-21-2022 Congrats on the move and on Fluffy's adjustment. He is a wonderful boy. I am so glad to hear that your recovery is going well. Hugs, Gina RE: Fluffy and I moved house (and I got Covid) - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 08-21-2022 Thanks Gina... I'm recovering more each day and Fluff is getting more settled each day. Although - I must say the mornings are a bit more challenging for me. When Fluff had his enclosure I used to pop him in his outdoor 'playpen' and watch him while getting the laundry & dishes done. He was very content out there. Now - I have to spend at least the first hour of every day playing with him and cuddling him. And... when I say play it doesn't mean chucking a toy for him while I'm making coffee and doing other things. He demands 100% of my attention for at least the first hour or two every single morning. Made up of play-time, cuddle-time, grooming time and just general gazing at him telling him how wonderful he is... |
