Please pray for the rain to stop - HelenMac - 01-27-2023

My sister and family is so close to water entering house its inch below the front door  please pray for the rain to stop.  The weather is so scary they have waterfalls running over the walls into the garden the swimming pool is full and over flowing we need the rain to stop. Auckland is under state of emergency and this is just the start of the horrific weather for the long weekend.   Other parts of Auckland have already flooded the water is chest high and flooding houses. . Along the waterfront the ocean is breaking over the walls and flooding the roads. My other sister had just got seated at Elton John concert after a two hour trip into town due to the weather and now its been cancelled before it even started and under evacutation orders due to heavy rain and risk of flooding.. Should have been cancelled hours ago now everyone has to try get home again which will take hours. Now the heavy rain has started here we are 1.5 hours South of Auckland. Just had to lock the boys in as enclosure flooding. Lord please stop the rain New Zealand needs a break.

Floods galore - HelenMac - 01-27-2023

Hard to fathom but for first time Auckland international airport is closed due to flooding and a plane took out the runway lights last night.  And the rain keeps on coming.  Total of 249mm of rain had fallen by 1am highest on record.  We ended up having to lift the new turf in the enclosure and bring the cat towers inside at 11pm and lock the boys in.  Unfortunately more on the way.

I am so sorry to hear of your plight, Helen. Unfortunately, there have been some very strange and awful weather patterns throughout the world this season. I hope it passes soon and that you and your family are safe.

Thanks ladies. All schools and child care centres are closed until next Tuesday as last night another 100mm rain fell and another deluge is forcasted from tomorrow for next 7 days. Its never ending just won't stop raining. Had to lock the boys in again last night the rain was so heavy was scary but thank goodness we still okay. I have to say the village is well built mind you the bowling green is now a swimming pool... My sisters very clever husband took the grill off the storm water drain which meant the torrent of water went straight down the drain and rest down the driveway. He also took the plug out the swimming pool on Friday so it wouldn't over flow and its still full that's how much rain has fallen and is still falling.. His clever thinking save their place. Unfortunately my other sisters rumpus room flooded and the garage. There's over 5000 homes that are red stickered in other words uninhabitable. Last night two more houses took a slide down the hills landing on other peoples houses thank goodness no one was killed. There's more just tetering on the edge. A whole plantation of Gold Kiwifruit was wiped out. Unfortunately there have been 4 confirmed deaths. Please continue to pray as its not over yet sadly.

Sorry havn't been on. Its been rain rain and more rain. The second storm passed thru did a uturn and came back unbelievable. So many roads are washed away. My family can't even get down to check their holiday place as the roads have completely washed away from both sides of the country. My sisters place did get some seepage into the downstairs with the third storm. The stupid storm went down the island then did a uturn and came back.
