He's so gorgeous

He really is a remarkable cat - and your photos capture that... Heart

Ever since you decided to bring Wesley home I've been playing the "what if" game...

It goes like this: If - I were to adopt another ragdoll - which breeder would I approach?

I look up show results and google the breeders of winning cats. Some of these breeders acknowledge other breeders they work with and contribute to their lines - so then I google those breeders and sigh over their beautiful cats. Then - I decide I'm really happy as I am with just Fluffy and myself in our household. I've seen some gorgeous blue/lynx ragdolls - with stunning blue eye colour - but honestly none of the cats I've seen hold a candle to young Wesley.

He was a cute kitten (and kittens are adorable) but the cat he is becoming is A-M-A-Z-I-NG!!! It's not just his beautiful blue eyes - or his gorgeous colouring - it's the charisma and confidence that shines through those eyes.

Awww....thank you so much Pam, your kind words have warmed my heart. xo

I was just thinking about it all these days and how I almost didn't get him because I was grieving so much for Fozzy and Mittens, I just wasn't sure whether I was ready to bond with another cat and felt that having Cody and Katy was enough. And yet, losing the other two so quickly in succession there was a HUGE gap left in the house.

When the breeder (who knew that I had lost Fozzy) contacted me so unexpectedly and after a few days really praying about what I should do, I felt I should take the plunge and get Wesley. It took a very special boy to help heal the heartache I'd felt during those many months and Wesley has certainly helped me A LOT. I know that no cat can replace one you've lost, each one holds a special place in our hearts, as I'm sure you know. But he truly is an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G boy. I since found out from my friend Linda that the breeder is retiring from breeding and this was their last litter. I am so thankful they reached out to me as I really like them as breeders because when I got Fozzy and a few weeks later Katy, the breeder shared with me that some years ago they had been to a conference in the US where they met Denny Dayton and they promised Denny that they would strive to breed Ragdolls after the standard they (Denny and his wife Laura) had strived for.

Fosco aka Fozzy, Katy and now Wesley are the three Raggies I've got from them and I have not been disappointed. All three have been amazing and Wesley is promising to be a very special boy. His temperament, personality and adorable little ways are just too wonderful. xo

Thank you so much my dear friend, I know you would absolutely LOVE him! My sister who has been visiting keeps threatening to steal him and take him home with her. HAHA!  I'll be checking her bags before she leaves.  Wink

Just like my mom. The good thing is that you need a pretty big bag to fit a 21 pound cat into!

Pam, sometime back you asked me to make a progression chart of Wesley, I promise Linda too, so I finally got to it, but it's only up until 23 weeks. I'll have to make another one hopefully in a couple of weeks to show him completely up-to-date, but I think you can see how much he's grown and changed in these. Smile

Wow Colleen!!! The colour progression charts of young Wesley are so beautiful. Can't wait to see the next one!!! It's such a privilege to watch him grow up. It's been so exciting and so educational as well. I read a little about that last conference Denny Dayton attended and accounts from people who attended the conference here:

http://ragdollhistoricalsociety.org/

As a new ragdoll mum I searched endlessly during those first two years for accurate information about the breed. I very much admired the work of Laura and Denny Dayton. So when I heard your breeder had actually spoken with Denny and:

promised Denny that they would strive to breed Ragdolls after the standard they (Denny and his wife Laura) had strived for

I was thrilled beyond belief!!! Also devastated that the breeder is retiring and this was the last litter. Knowing that Fozzy, Katy and Wesley have been bred according to the Dayton standard explains the way I feel when I see them. To me they represent the epitome of ragdoll breeding.

I knew I was in the right place when I joined these boards - and I'm more excited than ever to watch young Wesley grow up. I know Wesley has helped heal the heartache you felt after losing Fozzy and Mittens and I'm glad he has brought such joy into your life. Thank-you for sharing that joy here... Heart

Our first Ragdoll, Browning, was a seal mitted male from the Daytons' Blossom Time - a wonderful cat who started our over 40 years and counting with Ragdolls.

RE: Wesley is home at last! - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 02-21-2021

Oh!!! Jan H I can't tell you how excited I was to hear about Browning from Dayton's Blossom Time!!! Your cats must be MAGNIFICENT!!! Hearing about real connections to the Daytons through you and Colleen is so much better than just reading the histories...

Sorry I'm gushing like a schoolgirl... Blush
