RE: Newbie here - JanH - 11-15-2019 Although in general Ragdolls need less grooming than some other longhaired cats (like Persians), some people find that they prefer some professional grooming services. However, this is true with any longhaired cat -- and admin is right. RE: Newbie here - Smudge's Mom - 11-15-2019 Both my Doll and Muffin loved water, so bathing once a month was a fun bonding time for us. I finally had to give it up when my torn rotator cuff made the blow drying too difficult. Then I switched to a professional groomer about every six weeks. As far as veterinary costs go (after the first 6 months when they are getting neutered and first immunizations) with a generally healthy cat, figure on one annual check-up for the first 8-9 years, shots every 3 years (depending on your state or country). You doctor may offer insurance or an in house health plan that covers all sorts of things at somewhat reasonable prices.
