Some do it to mislead and some do it because they have been misled.

I can definitely see how that can easily happen to a breeder starting out. It is overwhelming trying to figure out what is accurate and what is not as someone new to the breed.

No doubt. Ask about things you find confusing and we will try to help.

I’m really excited about talking to Edie this afternoon. Hopefully soon I will be able to bring home a sweet little ragdoll. I can’t wait! In the meantime I want to learn as much as I can.

Thank you to everyone who has helped, I really appreciate your advice and kindness.

Good for you asking questions and getting educated before you buy. Unfortunately there are many backyard breeders who prey on those without knowledge and people end up disappointed and/or heartbroken.
We really love pictures so please keep us posted on your quest! This is a tutorial to show you how:

Thank you so much! I will definitely be posting pictures of my future fur baby baby once I can finally get him/her home. I will also have tons of new questions about food, brushes, cat trees, scratching posts, and probably a hundred other things I have not thought of yet once I start preparing.

Ask away. This is an exciting time for you and it's fun to share it with you.
I copied this thread to the breeder discussion topic as well so that it's easy for others to find when they are looking for help to find a reputable breeder.

Welcome to the Board. You have been given so much good information. JanH guided me through my early days more than 17 years ago. I am sure you will be able to make the right choice and will be so happy. When the time comes, please post 100s and 100s of photos.

Thank you so much! When I am finally able to bring my baby home you will be flooded with pictures!

I just wanted to add I do not believe Noble Rags is a bad breeder. She cares about her cats and does take good care of them. She just accepts the wider view of what colors and patterns are acceptable.
