Pioneer Pet Stainless Big Max Fountain - Tikismom - 06-19-2019
I've had this fountain for the boys since they were kittens so about 9 years now. They do drink from it a lot and heaven forbid that it stops working, which it has a few times. The pump, which I run 24/7, has had to be replaced twice so every few years, and the pump housing has slowly lost the suction cups on the bottom. Neither of these things are prohibitively expensive to replace; if you live in the US where the manufacturer is. In Canada the duties and taxes roughly triple the expense if you order from them online. Until recently I could buy the parts at a store called the Cat House, for reasonable prices, but it burned down and sadly they haven't reopened. I received a quote from another pet store in town, Pisces Pet Emporium, of $70 to replace the pump and housing! Good old Amazon didn't have the parts available but they did have a brand new one for $85 so I went that way and am pleased that I did because they've made a few good modifications since. Now I just need to remember to stock up on the pumps and housing on my next US trip!

I have both big max pioneer ceramic and pioneer raindrop ceramic. Boys definitely prefer big max it's silent.. I find the water sound on rainbow bit annoying.

That's good to know Helen. I find that the Big Max only gets noisy if the water level drops which is a good thing because you know to clean it or add more water. It works pretty silently if it's full.

I have the stainless and the ceramic. One is the Rainbow and one is the Big Max (I think) - both pumps have went (yes I cleaned regularly) and one of the plastic filter holders broke
I have been able to find the pump at a Canadian online store called Homes Alive - they are out of Lethbrige and have free shipping on orders over $100.00 in Alberta.

We have been without for at least a year, however with the new puppy coming I am trying to decide what to do.
My Hooligan do miss their fountains.

a rescue from a reservation in northern Alberta. I think she is a collie type mix. We get her next Thursday.
I will the grandkids would visit here. Alas I go there because cheaper for me to fly there than for the family of 6 to come here.
This year we are meeting them in Cape Breton for 10 days. I am excited to get some much needed beach time and what is better than beach time with grandkids lol

I did find the pump what I need is the plastic housing for pump.
