Spring is finally on the way... - Codysmom - 08-26-2020

This past winter has been the coldest we've had for many years. It's wonderful experiencing the days getting longer and the warmer weather is so welcome.
It's lovely to walk outside during the day and hear all the birds singing, there are so many around and there are lots of little babies. These are just a couple of photos I took during the cold winter, I hope to share a few more over the next few days.

From the kitchen window, this Quellea was waiting for it's chance at the bird feeder.

So beautiful!!! I have a young Magpie that's been visiting every morning and makes direct eye contact with me...

I love the end of winter and the promise of spring. It's my favourite time of year Heart

Beautiful birds. Its weird here we have Cherrie blossom trees flowering way to early and daffodils that are also flowering way to early on one side of the village yet Cherrie Lane the other side the trees arn't even budding yet. This week has been nothing but cold icy wind and torrential rain. Sky is black dark and dreary. Gets so dark during the torrential rain need to turn lights on in the house to see. Both boys are tucked away Zimba is in my bed and Shadow in his bed in the wardrobe. Havn't seen any birds for 4 days think its too wet and windy for them. I can't wait for spring to show its head.

Oh! How lovely! I really miss seasons!

They are beautiful. With the Wild Bunch living in my backyard, I have no birds anymore. The cats are too full and fat to be hunters, but the birds have not yet figured that out.

Michigan has only two seasons...Road Construction and Winter.

I'm praying we'll get rain this year. We've been in the grip of a very severe drought for some years now in our area of the country. We did have very good rains just before autumn which was a blessing, first time in years that that happened, but then we went into such a cold winter with black frost, so we'll have to see which plants survived that.

Hopefully your birds will show themselves soon. It's interesting watching some of the species's breeding colours starting to come in, during the winter some of the birds look rather plain, but when their colours come in it's such a dramatic transformation.

Yes, in our area we have the seasons, but other areas especially some of the coastal areas are lovely all year round and you don't have the seasons we have. It's so interesting! Smile

We have our feral kitties out the back too, only one of them is a 'real' bird killer. The black kitty I named Bobby because of his short tail. He's such a sweet boy, but terrible with the birds. If I see him our there I usually step out into the garden to make the birds fly away, but the little horror still manages to catch the doves, the poor things are so slow and are such easy targets. Poor things, I always feel so sad if he does catch one.

This was August last year, the Primulas look just as beautiful now as they did then, just haven't uploaded pics yet.
