Our Beautiful Girl Is Gone - Smudge's Mom - 10-21-2021
This morning, the Amazing Princess PookaPee, left us to rejoin her beloved Smudge.
Although not unexpected, still it was very sudden. Last night she was fine (well fine for a 96 year old) but sometime during the night she took a bad turn. When I awoke this morning, her bed was covered with vomit and bowel fluids,
and even though she wanted her breakfast, her face and eyes did not look right.
The doctor took us immediately for an evaluation. She told me that two systems (heart and kidneys) were shutting down simultaneously and the treatment for one was the exact opposite of the treatment for the other. It was decided that the time had come and my precious girl passed peacefully in my arms.
My wonderful girl was 19 year and 9 months old. She had been our baby since she was 20 weeks old when I got a call from her breeder to please rescue her from her adoptive parents and fly her back to Connecticut. I fell in love during the hour car ride from the "Evil People". I will love her and miss her forever.

Thank you al so very much for your kind thoughts and words.
Today is very strange. I am not used to working at the desk by myself or not being interrupted every 20-30 minutes to dish out another meal. It will take a while to adjust to being without our girl.

My heart goes out to you. It is indeed tough to lose one of the tribe, especially one who has been with you so long. The girls send hugs to their Auntie Gina and Uncle Stan. We indeed know what you are going through.
Took the girls to the vet yesterday for weigh ins and the vet asked me if I missed my ragdolls - well, duh. These girls have helped fill the void but they are not ragdolls. They do like to hug though.

Oh Gina, I'm absolutely heartbroken with you to read that your wonderful girl is gone, I couldn't stop the tears when I read your post. Over the years and through your posts we have all got to know and love your beautiful Pooka. She will be sorely missed.
