Aloe blooms - Codysmom - 11-30-2021 Once a year and for only about a day these flowers appear on the hill behind out yard. They make a magnificent display, only wish I could do them justice when capturing them. To give you an idea of their size, each single bloom is approximately 25cm (10 inches) in diameter, they are huge so if you can imagine that, it might give you an idea how exquisite they are. Here's a photo of them from 2018, it was a lovely overcast day and the lighting was perfect. RE: Aloe blooms - Smudge's Mom - 11-30-2021 OMG...they are gorgeous. And not only are the beautiful, they are so beneficial. You have truly done them justice. Thank you for the wonderful photos. RE: Aloe blooms - HelenMac - 11-30-2021 So beautiful RE: Aloe blooms - NatsFan78 - 12-01-2021 They are stunning! Thank you for sharing. RE: Aloe blooms - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 12-02-2021 Absolutely gorgeous!!! love the plant - love the photos!!! You've absolutely done them justice!!! I've been very garden oriented lately because we've had the wettest spring in over a century and it's so different from the bushfires of 2 years ago. Everything is thriving instead of just surviving and the dam is overflowing. So different from 2 years ago when the dam was only 40% full. Gardening is such a joy in these conditions... My neighbour was kind enough to give me some geranium cuttings today - they're a lovely double pink and I'm already impatient for them to take off!!! There's so much pleasure in nurturing a cutting or a baby plant into it's full grown glory - but it does require patience... I've been considering getting an aloe recently because I like having a bit of everything in my garden, flowers, herbs & medicine. In my youth we used to apply it to sunburn after the beach. I've bought manufactured aloe gel from the chemist, but nothing beats the fresh gel straight from the garden... And these days I've learned not to get sunburned at the beach... Thanks for posting these photos Colleen - also loving the Christmas signature of your gang... RE: Aloe blooms - Codysmom - 12-09-2021 Thank you so much ladies, they are magnificent to see. A friend of mine living in Namibia showed some photos of red and pink one's. They are stunning! It's amazing Pam, we've also had a higher rainfall in our area than normal and everything is looking so beautiful at the moment. Please post some photos of your flowers, would love to see them. Thanks, I was having a bit of fun with the signature and the fur babies, I love Christmas time. x RE: Aloe blooms - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 12-11-2021 I will try to get some halfway decent photos Colleen... RE: Aloe blooms - Ragstimes1 - 12-11-2021 It's December and supposed to go up into the 70's today. Go figure. I finally had the yard cleaned up, leaves raked, massive weeds pulls, etc. My little blueberry that was here to cross-pollinate with the big one got pulled so I'll be getting another next year. The yard looks so much better. The peonies have been cut down and removed. I just can't do this stuff anymore. You'd laugh - I go to bend over and at some point, keep on going. Can't get up when I hit the ground. It's also time to look for my little christmas decorations. I never got them up last year. I don't put a tree up and have several small battery operated ones. I haven't put a tree up since Rags arrived here and he thought his name was "No, no, get out of there". I guess it's been close to 20 years. I have some that hang on the wall, some that sit on the entertainment unit, etc. It's just me so it really doesn't matter too much. With the health issues, I don't see many people. Guess I'd better go upstairs and see what I can find. Sue RE: Aloe blooms - admin - 12-15-2021 Yes Tiki also thinks that's his name. LOL |
