Two upset boys - HelenMac - 01-28-2022 Well the boys were most upset and didn't know what was going on. Suddenly they were banned from the enclosure for 24 hours both the outdoor cat towers were suddenly in the bedroom they didn't know where to put themselves having the choice of 4 cat towers jammed into the bedroom while the wood was all painted outside.. Apparently gets done every 6-10 years. We been here coming up 7. Beginning to think need to have a external door that's permanently locked until times like these put in the enclosure as the painter had to come into the house then thru the bedroom to get out into the enclosure with ladders ect. Of course the boys wanted to help so had to lock them in side. Shadow lay on the tower watching like the gentleman he is as for Zimba well he decided he had a better view from the kitchen bench. Of course like the kind hearted mum I am I let him and disinfected the bench afterwards. Sorry no photos as my phone died. RE: Two upset boys - Ragstimes1 - 01-28-2022 Aw, sounds like they just want to be outside. I'm thankful mine are just inside. We're supposed to have blizzard conditions tonight through tomorrow. They've had something to eat and are both asleep right now. Coco is in front of her favorite window on her "binkie" and Willow found a heat vent to sleep in front of. The snow has started already and the grass is white, the sidewalks bare. I'm quite thankful I have my gas generator as it will kick in if the power goes off in this wind. The girls will be happy to be inside when the temperatures keep falling and the wind is howling. I may be up all night as the heavier flannel sheets were a bit too cozy and I slept way too long. All of my trash cans are on the porch and the trick is getting out there without the two wieners following me. If they had the enclosure yours had, they'd want to be out there all the time too. It looks like I'll be inside with the girls for the next few days. Been keeping in the house because of Covid and have been wearing a KN-95 mask whenever I have to go out. Our local rite aid says if you've had all the vaccines, which I have had, you can come in without a mask. The problem is you see people inside without masks and you don't know if they're just tired of wearing them or they've actually been vaccinated. I'm not going to find out and keep a supply of masks in the car. I made sure I had everything I needed before the storm hits. Give the boys a hug and pretty soon they'll be able to just spend their days outside watching the birdies. Wish I had somebody here to build something like that. I imagine they love it out there. Sue RE: Two upset boys - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 01-28-2022 Fluffy would definitely be making his feelings known if he was banned from his enclosure for 24 hours!!! It's been so hot here that he's only spending 15 mins in the enclosure in the mornings before I bring him back inside. But we've had some lovely cool breezes in the evenings so we've been spending more time out there at night. The garden has been graced by tiny frogs this year and I'm not sure who's more excited - me or Fluffy. One managed to find it's way into the enclosure a few nights ago - and then thankfully managed to escape from the enclosure. I think it may be a Common Eastern Froglet from it's appearance and it's call. I'm now dreaming about a small pond for the garden to encourage more frogs... Your boys sound like they're taking their su-purr-vising duties very seriously and I'm sure they'll make a full inspection once the work is complete!!! RE: Two upset boys - HelenMac - 01-28-2022 The painter came back 6 hours later to rehang the sail cloth and removed the ladders and drop cloth so that evening we put the artificial turf back down then put the kennel back in place and the bench which we have now covered in artificial turf as been so hot was worried boys would burn their paws and put the towers back. We have rearranged the kennel and bench so it shades the concrete so no burnt paws. We kept the boys locked in over night and let them out next morning. They checked everything out and gave their approval rolling around on the turf.. We put up extra shade cloth that morning around the top of the 3 sides of enclosure so they now have shade from about 10 onwards. They still get early morning sun and early evening sun as its going down. We hung it with clips so can be removed in winter. We put the cat grass containers down on the ground next too each other big mistake as today I found Zimba sprawled across the two of them fast asleep he has totally squashed the grass.. Might be time to do a bigger tub of grass. RE: Two upset boys - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 01-29-2022 It sounds amazing Helen!!! I love the attention to detail such as attaching the shade cloth with clips so it can be removed in winter...and covering the bench in artificial turf... |
