I have a request or suggestion for the forum. Would it be possible to have a section for breeders? For example, that part of the forum could have a list of questions to ask your breeder and what to look for in a breeder pinned at the top. Then we could have a thread for each area of reputable breeders, for example Edie’s Raggymay Ragdolls listed under a thread for North Carolina. Over time I feel like that could build into a very valuable resource especially since so many are straying from the breed standard. If not for the forum I would not know what to look for nor where to look. Of course there would need to be a set of standards for a breeder to be listed. My search for a breeder is what originally brought me to the forum.

The primary objective of this forum is to provide people with accurate information, on the Ragdoll cat breed as well as general pertinent cat information that we all as cat owners need from time to time. In the internet ocean it's easy for anyone to become misled by bad information. I know this firsthand with every one of my cats over my lifetime, in one way or another.
I'm not a breeder but would value the opinion of breeders here, as well as other members, on whether that would be a worthwhile endeavor at this juncture. It may be something to look to develop for the future so any and all ideas would be welcome! If anyone wanted to run with it I'd very much appreciate the assistance.

I am definitely not very knowledgeable yet but I am happy to research and ask questions or help in any way I can. It is just so hard to find a reputable breeder and with all the misinformation out there many pay huge amounts for what is essentially a ragdoll mix without knowing it.

I think having specific responses to foiks searching is better. A generalized research feature can easily go wrong - and folks like forums like this because they are getting personal answers geared to them and their concerns.

I can understand that. I was searching for a list of breeders in my general area so that I could contact them and learn more about their cats. I think the usefulness of a section like that on the forum would depend on the reasons they are here.

There are geographical lists of Ragdoll breeders on RFCI, RFW and Breedlist. Folks should consider breeders at least in a round trip drive of a day.
