Boys were innocent - HelenMac - 01-03-2023 Got woken up by the bed rocking and rolling immediate thought was boys playing on bed but no cat in sight and it kept going . Grabbed phone checked geonet sure enough 5.1 earthquake at 5.39am. As for the boys they were out in the enclosure. And to top it off we are in for a tropical storm heavy wind and rain flood warnings in place so all camp grounds emptied so much for summer holidays. RE: Boys were innocent - Smudge's Mom - 01-03-2023 Glad you are okay and, more importantly, the boys are not in trouble (yeah, the reaction of a Crazy Cat Lady). Your weather sounds as weird as ours here in Michigan. Our average January temp. is usually in the mid 20s (Fahrenheit). Today we are at 49. Christmas day we were at 5 degrees and 4 days later we were at 60. Nothing is making any sense/ RE: Boys were innocent - NatsFan78 - 01-04-2023 I’m glad you are okay and hopefully you do not have damage. I have only experienced one earthquake and it was one too many. I believe it was a 5.8 but I can’t remember for sure. I live in Virginia so earthquakes are not normal for us. This one was centered about 45 minutes from our house. We had small cracks in our foundation and one big crack all the way across our basement floor. I don’t know how people keep their sanity in areas that are high risk. Our weather has been odd too. Christmas weekend we had wind chills well below 0, the temperature was below 0 with a wind chill of -35 at my Mom’s one night. She lives more in the mountains than me. Yesterday it was 70. Yes was very unusual for us too don't normally have earthquakes in the Waikato. New Zealand seems to be having more and more earthquakes in unusual locations these days. No damage thank goodness. I couldn't find my cell phone when I got up turned out it had fallen off the side table next to my lazyboy chair and gone under it but it was okay. |
