Boys are confused - HelenMac - 02-11-2023 We now have Cyclone Gabrielle arriving in New Zealand. They reckon its the worst storm of the century to hit New Zealand and a catagory 3. As if poor drowning New Zealand needs another storm. So last night took the turf up put in garage took the towers into the bedroom so now have 3 towers in here but yes I still managed to get into bed last night. 6am this morning the lull before the storm the boys are wondering what's happened. Managed to put towers by the door so they are now locked in and the patio door is open with the screen across so they can have fresh air until storm arrives. Funny how they are still both on their preferred towers snoozing. RE: Boys are confused - Smudge's Mom - 02-11-2023 I am so sorry for what you and your country are going through. Don't be too worried about the boys...being cats they will somehow manage to sleep through most of it. RE: Boys are confused - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 02-12-2023 The boys know they are loved... and that's the most important thing of all... Your boys sure were blessed the day you became their cat mama... RE: Boys are confused - HelenMac - 02-14-2023 Well after the most scary Monday night and Tuesday where the wind and rain was scary loud never heard anything like it and the wind drove the rain under our front door and under the garage door so put towels down in between the screen door and front door then another couple of towels in front of the closed door which ended up soaking wet but at least kept the water in the entrance way got no further thank goodness. I shut the boys in with me in the bedroom with carriers ready. Zimba was quite scared and ended up sleeping in the carrier beside me with a blanket drapped over it and Shadow got into bed and slept down by my feet. Not much sleep had but we survived which is more than I can say for over 10,000 people who have lost their homes we woke up to relative calm this morning. I really don't know how New Zealand will recover from this so much devastation after landslides flooding roads washed out whole cliffs just given way and come crashing down towns completely cut off with no way in or out a national state of emergency has been declared its horrific and so unreal. We are okay which I'm very grateful for and this morning was finally able to put the enclosure back to rights and let the boys out there... Now to dry the carpet in the garage with the first sunshine in weeks. RE: Boys are confused - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 02-15-2023 So glad to hear an update from you Helen. I've been watching the news here and it looked terrifying. Glad you and the boys are OK. We've had similar events here, starting with the bushfires in 2020 and repeated flooding since. Fluffy and I have been very fortunate not to be directly affected, but his pram lives by the front door just in case we need to evacuate. RE: Boys are confused - HelenMac - 02-15-2023 Yes sure is scary at the moment. Last night another 6.3 earthquake just to top the day off I was outside filling up the bird feeder when Zimba shot out the cat door howling at the top of his voice just as there was a sharp jolt nearly knocked me off my feet had to grab the feeder otherwise I would have been over. Luckily was 48km deep so even though most of the North Island felt it as far as we know no damage. But then with the devastation I don't think anyone would know. Boys have been very unsettled since especially Zimba staying close doesn't even want to be outside. I'm lapping up the cuddles. Later today in for a thunderstorm and another deluge. I was thinking time to take of to Aussie to my niece in Hervy Bay. But sounds like Aussie is having just as much a rough time. Keep safe. RE: Boys are confused - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 02-19-2023 very glad to read your update Helen... RE: Boys are confused - Codysmom - 02-20-2023 So glad you’re safe Helen it sounds very scary.
