update on Zimba - HelenMac - 03-20-2024

So my poor little buddy has gone back to not wanting to eat unless mum holds the bowl.  But thanks to the breeder we got a new food that we mix with his food which he absolutely loves the taste of and means he is eating even if I do have to hold the bowl lol.  Who cares gives me time to love on him. He is still crying and searching but he is sleeping out here with us instead of hiding to sleep or he goes on the bed in the office  where Shadow used to sleep when hubby is in there. He is also spending time out in the enclosure again  which is fantastic and does play when we bring out da mouse toy so definitely been an improvement.   This morning he curled up next to me for cuddles so I wasn't moving for anyone I was in my happy place. He has been coming in at night to give me kisses which I absolutely love.  Praying he will one day surprise me by curling up next to me for cuddles in bed..  I would be over the moon.  Hopefully with the cooling down weather he will want to curl up with me ..  We do have a new girl coming she had kittens and they have just been  weened  so still needs to be fixed but once recovered then we will bring her home so will be sometime in April..  She is the most beautiful blue bi-color with vivid blue eyes and a beautiful temperament.   So looking forward to having her home with us... Will keep you updated.

Last night snuggled with me to watch tv which was sheer bliss.. His favourite place is definately in the office with dad as he can sprawl out on the bed and it has a lovely soft mink blanket on it. So I went and bought a lovely new soft mink blanket to put on my bed lol as my old acrylic pretend mink blanket has gone all hard and yuk mind you its 8 years old so time for a replacement hopefully get it in the next few days.

So yesterday I was very naughty. The company I bought my cat towers from advertised on facebook they had one that was 1/2 price due to it being end of run carpet color and top surround therefore classed as b grade as the colors don't quite match and is also slightly smaller than Zimba's one as I had his made extra large so I grabbed it for our new girl as she is a small girl and would mean I have one for her and one for Zimba. Well it got dropped off today and as I'm moving it into place I'm thinking boy this has got very heavy all of a sudden. Yes you guessed it Zimba had appeared from no where and climbed onto it while I was moving it. He then decided to sleep on it for all of 5 minutes legs hanging off each side then decided no was going to go sleep on his one instead. Hopefully means she will be able to use it without being chased off. She gets desexed next week so getting closer.

Since getting the carrier/stroller Zimba has his appetite back. We go for our walk in the morning and as soon as he we get back he demands feeding lol. His food intake has doubled thank goodness and he is spending more time out in the enclosure which is fantastic. . Zimba is still howling looking for Shadow breaks my heart the evenings and my bedtime are the worst. . I have tried bringing him in to bed but he won't stay. We put a ticking clock next to the couch where he sleeps don't know if helps or not its been there since Shadow passed was hoping it would comfort Zimba somehow.. I feed him and play with him before my bed then when he jumps on the couch rub his face with his catnip mouse and pet him and cuddle him as he snuggles down. I spray the room with felloway and catnip then turn light off say goodnight and head to bed. . Sometimes it works other nights he still gets up comes into the hallway and howls. Can't wait for the new girl hoping seen as she has had kittens she will mother him but then again maybe he is too old. He did always flop down in front of Shadow for a wash when he was tired Shadow obliged then they would go to sleep on the couch or bed. The new girl has now been desexed but needs to gain weight and recover before coming home so not sure how soon..
