My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 06-07-2024 Took him to the vet today as he has lost more weight and stopped eating again. Poor baby has two teeth that need to come out he has feline tooth resorption this will be the third time. He had a pain shot and I have meds to give him. Going to be a tuff week next week. I have surgery Tuesday and his is on Wednesday. RE: My poor Zimba - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 06-07-2024 Best of Luck with both surgeries Helen xox RE: My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 06-07-2024 Thank you. Tell you Daisy is such a sweetie when we got back from the vet she immediately sniffed Zimba then lay down next to him and gave him a wash he rolled over and let her.. She has been close to him ever since providing comfort. What a special girl she is. RE: My poor Zimba - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 06-14-2024 (06-07-2024, 11:10 PM)HelenMac Wrote: Thank you. She has been close to him ever since providing comfort. What a special girl she is. She truly is special Helen - she just amazes me... Fluffy is 6 now and I've been reading and learning about ragdolls for 8 years. I still feel I have a lot to learn, but one thing is certain, the Ragdoll Temperament is just as important as the Ragdoll 'look' - perhaps even more important...??? Daisy is exquisite, she's such a gorgeous girl - but her temperament is even more beautiful than her looks. In that way she reminds me of Shadow. He was such a sweet boy, a gentle giant, and Daisy has that sweet loving nature too... I'm so glad she is with Zimba to comfort him... I love your babies Helen and I'm so glad you share them with us Pam xoxox RE: My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 06-16-2024 I agree she has a very sweet temperament. Hoping she will become a real snuggler like Shadow was as that is what I miss the most a cat that wants to lay next to me touching me and sleeping with me.. There is nothing better than when your in pain to have a cat lying next to you touching you purring.. Since my surgery she is starting to lie next to me more on the top tower beside my chair instead of the crate behind me.. Hoping she will start using the one on the bottom so I can stroke her. She does love being stroked and purrs so loudly when you stroke her.. Unfortunately I can't pick her up now for a minimum of 6 weeks as not allowed to lift anything with my hand. So today I sat at the table and she came and lay down next to me head butting me. Have to be so careful when I move around I get up thinking she is asleep somewhere and next thing she is beside me she appears so quickly. Wants to be where I am all the time and she is so quick. RE: My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 07-11-2024 So took Zimba back to the vet today for a check up its 4 weeks since his surgery. He has put on a whole 50 grams which is nothing really. His mouth is healed so that's good. He reckons even though we have Daisy and he wants to play he just doesn't have the energy due to the 1 kilo weight loss. He still doesn't want to eat unless I'm holding the bowl and Gabe the vet reckons its a combination of not having the energy due to the weight loss and him still mourning for Shadow and I can understand that because I am too even though we are coming up to 8 months. Just goes to show the close bond they had. So he wants him on kitten food and recovery food for now and pet milk all the extra calories I can get in to him. He loves pet milk so Gabe also wants me to put a egg yoke in it couple times a week too.. Since loosing Shadow he really isn't in to the wet food grazes on the dry more so we have kitten maine coon dry coming he said just to leave will be good for Daisy too as she still needs to put on another 300 grams to reach her before having kittens weight. We wil also try kitten wet food and the recovery food. We are giving him special one on one time with us when Daisy is out in the enclosure trying to play with him sometimes he wants too other times just wants the extra petting and loving. He likes to sit on Shadow's cushion on my lap in the morning and in the evening which I love and of course lie on the bed in the office where they used to lie together. We still havn't vacuumed Shadows chair so he does spend alot of time there. He still lies on the floor with Daisy which is nice and on the cat towers and couch and in the enclosure and has the odd burst of energy to play with her usually about 9pm which is nice to see. We just need to get the weight back on so onwards and upwards. Please pray for my sweet boy that he will start eating properly so we can get the weight on.. RE: My poor Zimba - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 07-11-2024 Thanks for sharing your updates Helen - I teared up when I read that you still hadn't vacuumed Shadow's chair. I totally get that... Thinking of you and your family - please keep posting updates Pam xox RE: My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 07-11-2024 (07-11-2024, 04:15 AM)MUM_of_FLUFFY Wrote: Thanks for sharing your updates Helen - I teared up when I read that you still hadn't vacuumed Shadow's chair.Gabe the vet said to leave it as long as possible. No one sits in that so I don't mind it being furry. He said it would be a comfort for Zimba. Everything else has been cleaned just needed to leave one comfort spot for the poor boy. Every now and then I get the excess fur off with my hand it looks good I would think all the smell has gone by now but who knows. RE: My poor Zimba - MUM_of_FLUFFY - 07-11-2024 Love your vet, love your breeder, love your babies... xox RE: My poor Zimba - HelenMac - 07-17-2024 Pleased to report a miraculous turn around. I bought some Maine Coon kitten kibble and Zimba loves them and sacks on them all day. I also got the kitten gastrointestinal kitten food and hills kitten food which he likes.. My boy is now asking for food and eating more wet food has even started eating his dental biscuits and his spark is coming back. He has more energy to play with Daisy and gets excited now when we get his favourite wand toy down to play and plays longer.. What a relief to have my boy back. Just pray and hope his beautiful blue eyes come back as they have been very grey and dull for quite sometime now. Its unreal the affect a cats grief has on their bodies.. |
