Kittens Colours/Patterns - Mich - 08-29-2024
Hi everyone,
We have a litter of 5 kittens here, (our first litter) can you help us determine colors and patterns?
The father is a Lilac mitted Lynx, and the mother Seal point lynx (with chocolate)
The are almost 8 weeks now.
Kitten Red
We think she is Lilac or Blue mitted.
kitten Blue
Blue/Seal point Lynx ?
Kitten Grey
Blue point Lynx.
kitten Green
Seal point?
Kitten Pink
Seal mitted Lynx

I don't know anything about identifying colours.\
The red kitten looks a lot like Fluffy (who is lilac) when he was a kitten, but that does not mean the red kitten is actually a lilac. I'm not a breeder, just a regular kitty mum.
Maybe an experienced breeder can help you?

The genetic charts at rfci.org should help you identify the possibilities.
For color, look to the darkest areas (and compare within the litter) - ears and noses
(for non-bicolors).
For lynx, to avoid confusion by ghost banding, look for white eye and ear liner.
Patterns can be Mitted and Colorpoint.
Give time for development. Early decisions are harder. For prospective pet owners, tell them your current opinion, but remind them that can change. One of the fun parts of pointed cats is changes as they mature. If someone wants to be sure, then dna color testing can be done.

next week we go to the vet for vaccination and chipping, our vet also breeds ragdolls and she is also the owner of the stud. so we hope to know more then
the future owners don't really care, they all stay in the family,
it's more that we would like to know and learn ourselves.

just returned from vaccination and chipping,
kitten red is lilac mitted,
kitten blue is Blue color point lynx,
kitten gray is blue color point,
kitten pink is blue mitted lynx,
kitten green is blue color point

That's so cool - thanks for the update! Fluffy is a lilac point (not mitted) and I thought the red kitten looked a lot like him when he was a baby kitty.
