To those who have lost a cat and the remaining cat spends his waking hours looking for him do you think that this will pass? He's just so sad...
Reading this just makes me cry. When I lost my Fozzy, Katy did the same, she would walk around the house crying for him as they were so bonded. I could only give her all the love possible knowing that in my situation I couldn't get another cat/kitten for fear of it contracting the Corona virus and getting FIP from the possible infection of my other cats.
What helped in my situation with Katy is that I was around all day and I could love and cuddle her a lot, also having Bailey (whom she loves to play with) as well as Cody helped so much. Eventually she did come out of her grief and return to her normal sweet self, but I think she misses having a kitty friend she could cuddle with (Cody only cuddles with humans), but on the other hand she's now started to become a lap cat which she never really was before.
However, I do agree with what has already been said about getting another kitten/cat. Although I totally understand that you might not feel ready to get another kitten yet, I do believe it'll help Tiki to get over his grief and for you too, even though it may not feel like that right now.
Thinking of you so much, sending love and hugs your way. xoxo
