  So I gave this enormous rocking chair to my kids when my granddaughter was born. Unfortunately it requires removing doors to get into any bedroom and now that she has outgrown sitting on laps for book reading they had left it sitting in the hall since they moved recently so I offered to take it. My problem:
  
  Aren't cats supposed to be wary of them? He sleeps under it ALL of the time and I'm so worried that I won't see him and he'll get hurt. Guess I thought that some things are instinctive. You know the old saying: as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs...

  Well Tiki definitely isn't scared of that HUGE rocking chair...I think you'l have to put something under it to stop any possibility of it rocking, or train Tiki to sit on it instead . I'd be too afraid to use it too.

  I only use it when I can see him elsewhere so it's other people that I worry about. You get pretty accustomed to having a Ragdoll with no fear in short order. I actually expect to find him belly up laying directly behind me but most people are used to cats who are just a teensy bit more concerned about self preservation....

  I often imagine what it would be like to have a rocking chair on the back pergola so I could rock in it while I'm supervising Fluff in his enclosure. They don't make them like they used to and that's a wonderful rocking chair you've got there. But I would be too afraid to have it in the house with Fluff!!!
  
  I used to sit on a dining chair at my desk in the study and sometimes use one of the ottomans. But I had awful hip and lower back pain - so I finally got a proper office chair on castors. I still worry that one day I might move backwards as I'm getting up and crush his tail or leg with the castors.
  
  As I'm typing this he's sleeping in his favourite spot (on top of his pram) so I can usually visually sight him before I roll the chair backwards to get up...

  Tiki obviously has no fear. I too would be terrified of injuring
