I miss Smudge so. I know his spirit will always be with me, but I miss his physical presence...his soft body against my belly under the covers in the middle of the night, his body weaving between my legs as I try to sweep floors...the head butts and gentle nose licks at 4 AM asking for a little middle of the night pet or treat. I've been crying for two days. -

Awww, Gina, I feel so bad for you. Yup, I've lost each of the boys at different times and it does not make it any easier. I imagine it's tough not to cry when you are putzing around the house and think of all the things he used to do when you're doing something else. The girls send you their regards from chasing flies and I'm sure the boys do too. Wish I could be out there and give you a fuzzy hug!!

The thing I missed most after my dog passed was his physical presence...we used to sleep back-to-back...like he always "had my back" and I had his...
I've seen some photos of your darling boy Smudge in some of the earlier calendars and he's so beautiful...

So sorry Gina, HUGE BIG (((HUGS))) to you; I can honestly understand how you feel. There are days when I think the pain of losing Fozzy and Mittens is a little better, then suddenly something triggers a memory and I find a wave of grief comes over me and the tears flow.
As you wrote we animal people understand what it is to lose a beloved pet and how devastating it can be. Thinking of you. xoxo
