COVID-19 has Michigan pretty well locked down as of noon yesterday (March 16). All restaurants, bars, pastry shops, coffee shops, etc. closed down except for take out and delivery. Gyms, meeting halls, physical therapy places, libraries, movie theaters, schools, colleges and almost every place other that food markets, pharmacies, doctor offices and the ilk also shut their doors. I think things would be a lot better if they shut down the freakin' media. -

Agreed. My mom is watching the news all of her waking hours. That much said she has done a superb job of protecting herself and holing up in her Vermont home. Much of her preparedness can be contributed to the media informing her.
Here in Canada the prime minister has closed the borders to all but citizens and permanent residents. In Calgary most of our business offices have been closed and the people that can are working from home. All that you mentioned above are closed as well as schools and daycares.
I sure hope that all of this does what it's intended to do and flattens the curve so that our health care systems don't get overwhelmed.

We have 67 cases here in Virginia, the closest one is in the county beside me. Most things have closed here too. A lot of people are working from home now that can. Our schools are closed until at least April 13. My husband, daughter, and son in law all have jobs considered essential so they are working as usual. My daughter is seven months pregnant and is a pharmacy technician. I worry about her as she has always had a weak immune system.
My parents have unfortunately watched way too much news and become convinced they are going to get this virus and die. I really wish the media would be more responsible. I live about 225 miles from my dad and about 290 miles from my mom. My dad has about a million health problems. I worry about both of them having supplies.
I never imagined I would see so many empty shelves shopping for basic supplies. The people hoarding infuriate me because it is keeps food and supplies out of the hands of the most vulnerable. I really don’t understand the toilet paper thing. I mean, people were buying a shopping cart full of it. I am happy to see that several stores are going to all seniors only for the first hour they are open. They will get to shop a clean store with stocked shelves.
I hope everyone was able to find the things they need and everyone is healthy.

Things are much the same here in Sydney. The supermarkets have started dedicating the first hour for elderly and vulnerable citizens. Unfortunately there's not much on the shelves...

Yesterday I bought Fluff a present. He has way too many toys but he's never had a cat tunnel. I put it in his enclosure last night and it was absolutely hilarious watching him discover how it worked. He was stalking in and out of it, then hopping backwards and forwards over the top of it. So funny!!! -

Well the official word is 20 cases in our country now. All been international traveller's which is maddening they are supposed to self isolate for 14 days but some seem to think doesn't apply to them so have gone out and spread the virus.. As of today the police are going to spot check international arrivals to make sure self isolating. 2 are being deported for breaking the isolation but too late already 8 new cases today. Our village has now said only immediate family is to visit but anyone that's traveled overseas is banned and everyone has to sign in but unfortunately rules out my family because my sister works in the main hospital in Auckland. Auckland is the worst hit so we can't go up for my niece's birthday this weekend. Also won't be able to go to my other niece's wedding as she is in Australia. The village has cancelled all community gatherings, games, knit and natter, church happy hour ect. Can't even have lunch in the cafe together now. We can collect meals but have to take back to our villas. Going to be a very lonely time especially with winter around the corner. All village outings have been cancelled even the weekly shopping trips. They have made arrangements that we can fax orders thru to local supermarket and village staff will pick up for those that don't have own transport. I normally shop online and hubby picks up but the last 2 weeks 1/2 my order has been our of stock. Got hubby to take me to 4 different supermarkets just to try and get my normal fortnightly groceries this week. My wrist surgery has been cancelled goodness knows when that will happen now. Only been in a cast since July waiting for it I am so over it. Not exactly helpful when it comes to washing hands either. At least I can still take the cats for a walk and potter round my garden. Had my pneumovax shot on Monday and will have flu vax tomorrow. Hopefully help keep me safe. -

We do not have confirmed cases, but 5 confirmed on Guam. Schools are closed. Government shut down other than non essential folks like police and fire. no tourists. No traffic, no run on goods as ships continue to bring toilet paper. I actually hoarded drinking water (6, 5 gallons. and a case of butane to cook. 24 piece. Other than that...you guys know I moved from beach to jungle. Photos in general chat. We have plenty bananas, ginger, micro greens, avocados, weed. We’re set. -

I went thru the drive in at the pharmacy for the first time today. I had almost correct change - they owed me less than $1. I told the pharmacist "Keep the change". I got home and ordered some paper products for Rose from Amazon and will have them delivered there. Saves me from going into a store and then driving over there. We're trying to keep her supplied with some necessities and I was surprised that she was agreeable. I had quite the stash but I keep hearing this ordeal getting longer and longer. I've been stocking up on some kitty things for Jamie and sent litter from Chewy's to a friend. She got 7 extra litters and then her regular shipment of 5 came thru. Chewy's is sending out e-mails that instead of getting stuff almost overnight it may take 5-8 days. Don't care as long as it arrives. Anything I can order online is fine. If I have to go into a store, I have to really need it and so far, I haven't had to do that. There is so much stuff closed and I've cancelled just about every appointment I had this month. Only thing I have is a vet appointment next week for Jamie. The vet said they may ask people to wait in their cars with their pet and they'll signal them to come in and it keeps folks out of the waiting room. I like that idea. They don't want wellness visits either. Makes sense.
Hope we all survive this. If I see one more article that if you are over 65 and have diabetes, well, you know the drill. I'm staying in the house and have lots to read, TV to watch and I can knit or sew. Jamie says I'm welcome to hold him and pet him as well. Stay safe and well. Thank goodness for telephones. Lets you keep in touch with folks but with no germs.

Luckily I always stock up on basics and paper products, so I thought we were set. Unfortunately my husband broke his hip
last Thursday. He transferred to rehab today, and I'm not allowed in to see him. We'll have to be content waving through the window. The silver lining is that he won't be using our food or paper products for awhile! The folks in our nefighborhood are organizing help for us older people if anyone needs groceries picked up, etc. You all stay safe. -

Schools have been closed, many of the borders into the country as well. They're discouraging any unnecessary travel and trying to educate the masses to wash hands etc. (a formidable task I'm afraid). Some people are taking if very seriously, but some not as seriously as they should, partly due to ignorance I fear. On Sunday there were 61 confirmed cases, today which is Thursday there are already 150 confirmed cases and growing rapidly. We're trying to stay at home as much as possible and only go out when absolutely necessary. When we do go out it's during the quietest times to avoid contact with crowds of people and of course we take sanitisers etc. with us to try and keep our hands and anything we touch as sterile as possible.
Because of my mom being 88 years old and myself having health issues we're restricting visitors at the moment.

We are so isolated but fortunate. No confirmed cases, but we have only tested 5 people. All travel in is shut down. Even regional travel is difficult because folks with or without virus have to quarantine. No school for the rest of school year and our commissioner has reached out to our representative in DC as the government here has denied the public school system funding. Payless paydays suck. We have until April 3rd before our paychecks stop entirely. Very stressful.
Just staying home mostly. I did go to the bank today and they had so much security. Dudes in masks with uniforms and guns who were very polite but only 5 patrons allowed in at any time. Then once you got in there it was weirder because of all the tellers wearing black gloves and masks. Interesting times.
