Thanks so much. I wasn't sure whether to post about it here - but it's been a reminder for me not to get complacent about Covid - especially the Omicron variant...
Mum's Rapid Antigen Test came back negative - but we're waiting on the PCR test now. We've had some real problems here in Australia with RATs providing false negatives (especially with Omicron) so the PCR test is considered the gold standard. However - the health system is so overwhelmed that we've also had delays receiving test results.
The good news is I have insomnia and Fluffy is absolutely delighted about playtime in the outdoor enclosure after midnight and in the wee hours of the morning... -

Praying your mom is okay. Please don't forget to take care of your self also. I hear you about fluffy enjoying being outside later and earlier. Its so hot here being summer I'm letting the boys out in their enclosure at night as I know they are safe and no way they can get out or anyone or thing can get in. I hear the door go at 12.30pm as Zimba comes back in to put himself to bed and again at 5.am as he goes out again to watch the tui's feed at the feeder. I always check the weather app to make sure no storms brewing ect but being summer pretty ok. I always shut it up at night in winter though. The boys like to play in the enclosure bit later in summer. -

I'm definitely heading into crazy cat lady territory - gardening in the moonlight - with Fluffy in the enclosure!!!
Mum's dementia was worse today and the cough was also worse - but we managed to laugh about a few things...
So - I'm happy about that...

UPDATE - Mum is doing well - says she's: sicker than I've been in a long time...
But she was coherent today - able to shower herself this morning - and decided to have a nap this afternoon.
The PCR test could take a week to come back - the system is just overwhelmed with the demand for testing at this time. -

Good news!!! Mum does not have Covid - but the pathology report is positive for Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV).
It's still not great - but it's not an uncontrolled variant of Covid running rampant in an aged care facility (which is where my dark imaginings had taken me) I've seen it so many times on the news over the past 2 years...
