Oh boy what a long week its been and such a long day today. Vet rang last night with the report from the specalist of the xray scans bloods ect. Specialist that reviewed everything said he had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia so born with it, thickining of the stomach spleen liver and colon and were pretty sure it was cancer said it really didn't look good. We discussed the results and I said I wanted 100% certainty no way I'm putting him to sleep without certainty.. So we picked him up and brought him home for the night in case it was going to be goodbye. We took him back this morning to be put under anesthetic to put a camera down to have a look. Vet rang at 12.30 to say they couldn't get a good enough look and no way with hand on heart could he say it was cancer as it didn't look right for cancer but also there was a massive furball blocking where they needed to see so suggested opening him up have a look as need to get furball out anyway and if was evidence of cancer then they would ring me. Well finally got call 5.00pm tonight to say no cancer two massive hairballs one had got caught between diagraphm and stomach so blocking things. He did have bit of fatty liver but that's from not eating and the thickening was inflamation nothing sinistar.. Yes definately has the hernia but doesn't need surgery for it. Liver spleen everything else looked good. So barring any complications my miracle boy will come home Monday. Going to be a long weekend as they don't do phone updates on weekends and of course not allowed to visit so can't wait till Monday when we can bring him home. Mum is doing well too and will be coming home Monday as well. Monday can't come soon enough. -

Oh Helen what a week you've had...so glad to hear your Mum & Shadow are doing better. I've seen images of massive hairballs in the intestines of cats online and I've always been terrified that could happen with Fluffy. Ragdolls have so much fur!!! I'm sure Shadow will feel much better once they're gone and he's back home with his mama...
And - I'm sure you'll feel better when your Mum comes home as well...

Thanks Pam. Vet then suggested I get the boys a lion cut every 2 months under anesthetic. Told him what I thought of that idea. I will go back to getting them groomed professionally like I used too I stopped it with covid but obviously I'm not doing a good enough job so need to restart it as me brushing and combing every day is not doing a good enough job.. Normally they get their bellies shaved and a good brush comb out.. Problem is they groom each other he suggested I try and stop that somehow. All I can say is so glad I went with my heart and got them to explore further. -

What good news on all fronts. Good idea to go back to regular professional grooming. I remember how much Pooka and Smudge enjoyed their spa days. Just wondering how the doctor thought you could stop mutual grooming...spray them with Bitter Apple (just kidding)? -
