  Interesting. It sounds like they're a good resource. I'd be more concerned about duck or turkey since my fellow has a problem with anything with feathers. I do find that fascinating given that he'd have a hard time bringing down a cow or a deer if left to his own devices...

  I have always wondered why the food manufacturers have never considered rodents. I came up with a name for a product and even a jingle.
  I named it Mousey Bits.

  Jax has been playing a little, hopefully a good sign. He is sleeping under my chin at the moment. He ate half a can of tuna and drunk a little water. She said the food allergy is a definite possibility and wants me to remove chicken from his diet completely while we wait for his test results. She said if that is the problem then we will be ahead of the game but if it is not the cause it will not hurt him to try it. After we see the results of the first round of tests she will decide what to do moving forward. She did a comprehensive panel today and is planning more tests Wednesday. Thank you for all your help, advice, and support. You guys are awesome!

  I wouldn't quit your day job ;-)
  I doubt that there's a way to market feeding rodents to cats that an abundance of people would buy into but given that I'm on the last commercial food I know of that Tiki can tolerate I suppose I'd find that more palatable than elk hunting...

  Do be careful with tuna. It can be addictive and put him off other foods. I hope the tests yield something more definitive. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

  SM, I do not understand why Purina is being so unresponsive. One can just see the video ad.
  
  NF, you do not mention whether the tuna is cat food or people food. If the latter, be aware that some cats fed tuna quickly develop "tuna addiction" and are hard to feed anything else. I assume your vet warned about that. (As noted by TM, one has to be skeptical about no chicken being in any cat food. The "best" and most digestible cat food ingredients are understood to be chicken and rice.)

  I gave Jaxon tuna last night and again this morning. It was canned cat food, not human. He is already a different cat! I think it is a chicken allergy. He ate a 3 oz can of tuna last night and almost an entire 5.5 oz can this morning. He is much more active and seems to feel better. He has killer gas still lol. He pooped when I started to clean his litter box. Part was soft but formed and part was still runny. For some reason he jumps in his box and tries his best to potty every single time I try to scoop it. He is definitely getting better I think!! I am going to avoid all feathered animals. Better safe than sorry I think. One of the vet techs told me her cat could not tolerate anything with feathers, she had the same symptoms as Jax. Thank you all so much!

  Consider that fish content cat foods are suspect for containing too much mercury and other heavy metals. I cannot help with the actual risk, but if you want to feed that way long term, do try to find out more.

  Oh the fun of allergies - at least you only have one.
  My Rune is allergic to feathers (yep lots of fun finding a food with out) and beef.
  The youngest Blaise refuses to eat any fish product.
  This list of single proteins all 5 will eat is very narrow
  Hello lamb - at least for the time being. Again finding any lamb without added chicken/ turkey/ fish
  We are now fancy Italian eating felines

  Oh my goodness I am sure finding food that works for everyone is a huge struggle! I am not sure what we are going to do. We are waiting for his test results before making a final decision.
  
  Does anyone know how long it takes for the symptoms to completely go away if a chicken allergy is his issue? I wish I had thought to ask the vet.
