  Good morning. Since Jaxon has been home his poop has been either liquid or near liquid. He is eating well and acting as though he feels good. He has been sneezing quite a bit, which the vet said he might, but his eyes and nose are clear. I am trying to get a sample to take to the vet this afternoon but I don’t know if they will be able to test it. He has become obsessive about covering it so it has a lot of litter on it this time. The vet told me at his appointment last Monday he was healthy, no worms or anything. I expected some issues the first week with all the stress and changes but shouldn’t he be better by now? He poops once a day or once every other day so it is not that he is going a lot, it is just liquid when he does. I am really worried.

  Can you try to catch his next poop in a sandwich box or something? They will require a "clean" sample. I waited near the litter box one morning when Eli was sick with a box in hand and just shoved it under his bum. He had a bacterial infection and it was that sample that finally diagnosed it on a PCR panel after several months of loose stools when he was young. It's common for an illness to break when they go through a stressful event like rehoming. As long as he's eating well I wouldn't panic but it's definitely a good idea to get his poop tested. You continued with what the breeder was feeding him I assume? Any abrupt food change can cause GI issues.

  I can’t get him as he poops, he stopped and ran from the box. I called my vet and she said to bring as much as I can, they can work around the poop. If they can’t get enough to test they are going to keep him overnight to try collecting one. I have tried to keep everything as close to what he had at the breeders as possible, even the litter. He seems perfect other than his poops being runny. He is very playful and eats a ton. He sneezes a lot but that is getting better. His eyes are clear and so is his nose. Hopefully they can figure out quickly what is going on with him.

  Talk to your vet about replenishing the good bacteria in his gut by giving a product like Bene-Bac (for beneficial bacteria). I know of no downside. You can get it from Amazon and most pet supply stores. If a cat has been on antibiotics, which I understand he has not, that will kill off some good bacteria along with the bad and may result in loose stools. Bene-Bac may help him too.

  I will ask her when I drop off his sample, thank you. I have been following him around all day waiting for him to poop lol.

  That brings back memories. I had been trying for days to get a clean sample from Eli so I hid downstairs behind some boxes and waited a long time, sandwich box in hand. I waited until I saw him start to go and shoved the box in under his bum. He was quite offended but I ran upstairs shouting about my victory wielding my box full of cat poo and remember that my son was less than impressed. He quipped, " Nope, definitely NOT a crazy cat lady AT ALL"...good luck!

  That is hilarious, thank you for sharing. Well my sample was not big enough. She did think the Bene-Bac was a good idea so I am going to start him on that tomorrow. Hopefully it will help. Thank you.

  Jamie had diarrhea from antibiotics.  I put him on pumpkin and within 24 hours he had a formed stool.  We're going to alternate pumpkin and flora forte (good probiotics) to try to get the rest of the doxycycline into him as that seemed to do the most for his ear.  Different than the baby you've got.  My boy has it from antibiotics.  Hope nobody ever sees an infection like this.  
  I swear we have a standing Wednesday 10:20 appointment - LOL.

  I have read that pumpkin is good to use. I hope your boy is healing and feeling better.

  Yes, pumpkin is effective for both diarrhea and constipation. Use canned pumpkin for pies - no spices. Many cats are glad to eat it. If he is not, then use a catheter tipped syringe to get it into his mouth. A tablespoon or so per day should be enough,
