Kittens, In General

Some of you may remember that I have been volunteering at a local no-kill shelter for many years (actually since, 2002).
It is a physically beautiful establishment....just rebuilt 18 months ago buy some local multimillionaires. The animals (cats, dogs, bunnies, guinea pigs, the occasional mouse/rat) lack for nothing. Right now we are at the height of Kitten Season. The babies are old enough to be released from foster care and brought into the adoption center. We have soooo many. However, the good news is that I don't even need to learn their names because by the following week, 3/4 of them have been adopted and have gone on to their new forever homes and a new bunch have been brought in.
However, I have to whine a bit, because I am exhausted....hope you will forgive me.
It is a well known "fact" that cats are fastidious creatures. My question is, when the He** do kittens learn that? OMG, I can't believe what I was cleaning up today. Every litter seemed to be trying to outdo the kitties in the next cage. "Oh, this is such a nice box for peeing, but the cage floor is waaaaaay better for poop. Oh eating this nice fresh food is wonderful, but not as wonderful as sitting in it. Yummy... cold water is soooooo good, but it is even better to splash it into my brother's face and spill allllllll over."
Okay, done whining. And I do have to admit, that watching them during their play time is so much fun. Cuddle time ain't bad, either.
