They pulled the catheter yesterday mid-morning, but by afternoon Paddy had still not gone. It was decided, that since I live less than two miles from the hospital, it was safe to let me take him home to see if familiar surroundings would make him give it a try. If things went south, I could get him back to them before closing.
Anyway, within 15 minutes of getting here, he ate, he drank and then he PEED!!!!!! YAY. He must have been very happy to be home because he even slept with me all night...very rare, indeed.
He seems to be in pretty good shape this morning...using the litter box, urine color seems normal (or at least I see no blood red). If all continues to go well, he does not need to go back to the vet until Tuesday when his stitches get removed. We cancelled weekend plans so we can keep a close eye on him, but I think we are out of the woods.
I thank each and every one of you for your good wishes, prayers and concern. Big hugs to all.

He has been unable to urinate. They drained his bladder which was bigger than a baseball. The urine was cherry red.
They have him on fluids and have him catharized (no easy feat with a cat that has had PU surgery). They will be doing blood work to make sure that his kidneys have not been damaged. The doctors are not sure of the cause, but say that the stress of the surgery and being in a hospital may have caused his urethra to go into a total spasm.
They will call me as they get more answers.

...my Red-Headed Boy. Paddy will be undergoing surgery for the removal of a lipoma. It is between his neck and shoulder and has been gradually increasing in size over the past few years. It is now to the point that Dr. Brown is concerned that it is large enough that it could actually rub his skin open from the inside...sort of an inside out ulceration
It is considered a minor surgery, but my boy is over 13 years old so, of course, I worry.
Thank you,
Gina

This morning, the Amazing Princess PookaPee, left us to rejoin her beloved Smudge.
Although not unexpected, still it was very sudden. Last night she was fine (well fine for a 96 year old) but sometime during the night she took a bad turn. When I awoke this morning, her bed was covered with vomit and bowel fluids,
and even though she wanted her breakfast, her face and eyes did not look right.
The doctor took us immediately for an evaluation. She told me that two systems (heart and kidneys) were shutting down simultaneously and the treatment for one was the exact opposite of the treatment for the other. It was decided that the time had come and my precious girl passed peacefully in my arms.
My wonderful girl was 19 year and 9 months old. She had been our baby since she was 20 weeks old when I got a call from her breeder to please rescue her from her adoptive parents and fly her back to Connecticut. I fell in love during the hour car ride from the "Evil People". I will love her and miss her forever.

I have three Ragdolls, one intact male and two other females. They're all over a year now. Apparently the male is not sexually interested in one of the females. The poor girl continues going into heat and being ignored. I am afraid she might get pyometra. I've tried separating them for a week, putting them together in the bathroom, etc...nothing. I was told that's called "Friend Zone." They are buddies. Any comments on this? Or other solutions? Thanks!
