On the bright side, we have no community infections from the Covid for almost 200 days. Being an island, we are lucky that way. We just closed all flights. Hurt our economy from the tourism, but the US relief money sorta made that up. We were also just noted by the US CDC as having the most folks immunized by states and territory.  What with the schools shutting down, I was fortunate to keep my job and consistent pay as a federal employee. No pet policy! Which brings me to today and my new friend who needs a name. Help me choose one. Oh crud, I cannot post pic. Anyhoo this feral cat got through the no pet security and sits with me outside when I smoke cigarettes and drink beer. Another good unforeseen thing was that this is a Korean resort and I had no idea about Koreans because they tend to stay by themselves locally. I knew they liked to come here in their winter to golf. But now I know, Koreans are awesome. I have a side gig teaching the children English. She had her senior exam yesterday and we are waiting for lab results, but all in all, Dr. Brown was happy with her general health.   Her hindquarters are partially paralyzed, but there is no pain involved and her front end is extremely strong from doing all the work.  Her appetite is beyond belief.   She still hates having her photo taken because she has never forgotten the flash from years ago...so this was the best I could do.   Not too bad considering she is the feline equivalent of 92 years.   How did I get so lucky? First got a phone call 7.00am Sunday morning to say my Aunt (mum's sister) had died from covid 19  in Holland and could I go to mum for when my cousin rang to tell her.   My uncle also has covid and is in some quarantine facility he's doing okay but still running fevers so please pray he is okay and survives. I have only ever seen domestic cat ones.   Nail trimming Posted by: Avasmom - 12-14-2020, 09:19 AM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (7) Just wondering - Does the need for trimming nails become less frequent as ragdolls age?  Ava's nails were trimmed by the breeder before I picked her up.  Then again, a little over 2 weeks later at her wellness visit with my vet.  I took her to my groomer about 3 weeks after that for another trim and she'll be going again this week which will be about 3 weeks after her last trim.  Trimming her nails is not something I want to do myself and my groomer is convenient (no appointment necessary for this) and not very expensive. They just seem to get so sharp, so fast and start catching on things - mostly me  . Ava is not a big scratcher as far as using scratching posts or pads, although I do have them in most rooms.  She'll use the infinity scratcher lounge in my bedroom the most - maybe once a day -  and just very occasionally the post I have in my living room.  The flat pads I have haven't seen much action and the good news is that she hasn't touched the furniture either.    With winter on us here and 2 small snow storms already behind us, I'll have to plan trips to the groomer carefully around "weather events" as I won't drive in anything messy.  There's more snow predicted for late this week so she'll be going for a trim tomorrow.
