Hi,
I am a new Ragdoll owner- I got my beautiful boy Chonk back in March of this year, he will be a year old this month. He isn't a skittish cat or anything, but very aloof. He likes to be in the same area as me- sleeping behind my computer screens as I work, sleeping on the floor next to my bed, on the opposite side of the couch, etc... but not really wanting to cuddle or seek attention from me. I've read that Ragdolls are often very affectionate and love to be held, lay in your lap, and love attention. Are Ragdoll kittens usually like this and they grow to be more affectionate and attached? Or at 1 year old, this is his personality? Don't get me wrong- I will love him either way, just new to this breed. Thank you for any advice!

What a long day yesterday turned out to be. Wesley and Dante were scheduled to arrive around 3pm, so I phoned the airport just after 12pm to make sure the boys were definitely ON the flight, only to hear they had cancelled that flight and the boys were only going to be put on the later flight. My heart just sank, I was so concerned about the boys knowing that the breeder had dropped them off at the airport at 7.15am to fly to Johannesburg and then the connecting flight to come to us!!!!
I contacted the breeder and he had put them in a large carrier with food, water and a litter box, which was a relief, but were both very concerned about them.
Linda and I were at the airport really early and e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y much to our relief the poor babies arrived at around 6pm, it was such a long day for them and we were thankful they were at least travelling together.
We brought them both first to me and allowed them to settle a bit.
Well, I know I'm biased but do declare they are the cutest little boys EVER! They came out the carrier and started exploring a bit, started playing a bit, ate, drank used the litter box and then played again. Loved being groomed, they purred like little engines making biscuits. So amazed at how quickly they started to settle.
It was sad when we had to separate them, but Wesley seemed fine and still very playful. Last night he purred up a storm when we went to bed, he is just the most adorable little boy.
So far Cody and Katy have sniffed under the safe room door, no hissing or growling yet, in fact they don't seem very concerned, more inquisitive. So I'm hoping with the slow introductions that it will go really well.
Anyway, enough of all my chit chat. Here are a few photos. I will post more as I do have (also of Dante), but just for you to see these darling little cutie-pies.
The boys - 14 weeks
WESLEY
DANTE - it was getting a bit dark to photograph, but you can see how cute he is.
The rest are all WESLEY, haven't uploaded more of Dante yet.
Taken this morning, lighting was much better.

We have not had a tree in 2 years because Phoebe, our Ragamuffin, chews on the branches. She actually swallows pieces.
We heard, on Facebook, that you could put orange peels under the tree and the cats will not come near the tree. Going to try that!
Anyone else have any ideas? I would love to get some pics under the tree this year with Phoebe & Jewels.

Indoor cats and open windows/doors. |

Hello, I am researching rag doll kittens and local breeders are stating that they are brought up as indoor cats. Does anyone have any experience or general thoughts on how in the warmer summer months etc where you may normally keep patio doors, back doors and multiple windows open, how would you, or could you, stop your precious kitty from exploring the outside world unaccompanied etc?! Short from putting screens up at every opening, is this a common issue, or do the cats not show an interest in the outside? Thank you in advance, I do hope you can pass on your knowledge :-)

My sweet boy turned out to have an inoperable tumor in his belly that was pressing on his bladder (hence the peeing all the time) and kept the stool from moving on through. He had an ultrasound on Friday that showed it was not "fixable" and we managed to have a special weekend. I was afraid that if I pushed the time today the food would start to back up on him. He's is now with his brothers and I imagine his Maxie is throwing a huge party for him tonight. He went peacefully and quietly and even gave me a kiss and some purrs while we were at the vet's office today. that's the second cat I've lost to cancer. No more ragdolls but I did promise him I'd get another kitty.
