I learned early on that Fluffy was not a fan of cat beds - his heart's desire is and always has been a folded towel... It took him a while to notice them because he was entranced by his jungle ivy screen over the window. Posted by: HelenMac - 12-19-2023, 09:38 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (8) Well its over 4 weeks I know still early days but Zimba is so sad breaks my heart to see him like this...I'm finding it so hard as now got no cat to cuddle and relax with and I crave it so much..   All my baby does is eat cry and sleep. I only see him when he comes out for food rest of the time he's either behind the couch asleep or in the cat carrier in the bedroom..He doesn't even sleep on the cat towers any more.   Its like I have no cats now.  He's lost interest in going into the enclosure all he does is go out first thing in the morning to nibble on the cat grass then comes straight back inside. Doesn't want to play doesn't want to snuggle doesn't even watch the birds when I feed them..   After a month the feliway has run out personally don't think its made any difference. I wake up to his crying and go to sleep with his crying. I got Shadow's blanket and rubbed it over all the cat towers.  Even put the new cat tower got for the entrance way  week before Shadow passed and put it next to my chair  hoping that he would lie on seeking comfort from me but no he jumps up on it asking me for treats which I give him then he jumps straight down and goes behind the couch to sleep.   I rang the vets to see if anything else can try to find Gabe the vet finished last week .   Personally I don't trust the other vet had bad experience with him so now have to find a new vet.  I know every one says it takes time but this is so gut wrenching to see him so miserable and makes my grieving worse as I can't comfort him.   Novel Toys for Cats Posted by: MUM_of_FLUFFY - 12-04-2023, 05:22 AM - Forum: Ragdoll Fun - Replies (6) I have learned as a cat mother that the best cat toys are not actually intended to be cat toys. I was putting eye drops in last week and I accidentally dropped the lid on the floor. I swore, but Fluff was absolutely delighted. The lid is small and can be swotted a great distance by a lurking cat. I dropped it in the kitchen (I keep my eye drops in the fridge) and he batted it through the kitchen into the lounge room. Because the lid is unevenly weighted it spins in a manner that absolutely delighted Fluffy. It disappeared for a few days until I eventually found it behind the bathroom door and retrieved it for his Lordship. I also purchased a novel toy for Christmas (which Santa Paws said we could play with today!). 2 x oven mitts emblazoned with cats (naturally!) which I am using for rough play to protect my hands from scratches. Fluffy is very good when we have rough, bitey, scratchy, play. He always stops when I say: OK - that's enough... Also I obtained these amazing toys for the princely sum of $1.50 each. Having a single cat has been a big responsibility, especially now we are in a smaller space. I have to devise enrichment activities for him and I also have to play a game I simply call: CAT. It involves me pretending to be another cat and chasing him around the house as another cat would.  So many people have said to me: Cats are easier and less work than dogs... I never heard such rot in my life. His Imperial Highness requires me to be on call 24/7 and constantly lets me know my attempts to meet his needs are merely: Adequate - room for improvement... A lot of people seem to feel the need to comment on how I spoil my cat. When they make these comments I simply say: Would you rather I was pulling the wings off butterflies?  (NOTE: Fluff has declared these people Enemies of the State) Thanks to all the other Cat Mothers here for everything that has been said and posted. Fluffy's life is infinitely richer because of you ladies in our 'Cat Mother's Group' and I am immensely grateful.   Oh Zimba Posted by: HelenMac - 12-02-2023, 05:01 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Fun - Replies (3) No Zimba you can not have a bird as a playmate and bringing it in to let it go to fly around inside is not appreciated especially when dad's not home so I have to try and catch and release.   Zimba is grieving need help Posted by: HelenMac - 11-28-2023, 03:58 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (4) Poor Zimba is really grieving doing everything I can to help him but it breaks my heart hearing my baby howling as he goes from room to room searching for his brother.  We did show him Shadow in the box when we brought him home before we buried him.  Poor baby stopped eating came very close to being admitted for syringe feeding but thank goodness with perseverance and many sleepless nights got him to eat again by smearing the food on my hand and getting him to lick it off while I stroked him hourly.  I got feliway plug in on advise from the vet and have that going 24/7     I got Shadow's bed out the wardrobe and swapped it with Zimba's bed on the couch as advised by the vet  and Zimba alternates sleeping there or in Shadow's chair  in the evening but during the day its either in my bed or behind the couch.   My little boy doesn't want cuddles he will accept petting but no cuddles and won't lie with me its like he just wants to be on his own but at the same does seek out  petting for a very short time when he first wakes up..  When he wakes he gets up wanders thru the place howling so I try to distract him with da mouse which he swats a few times very half hearted then he jumps up to eat and I stroke him then he eats then goes back to bed to sleep.    He's lost weight as not eating as much giving him greenie treats and feeding him the dental biscuits like treats one by one as he comes to me for those but at this stage won't eat them out the bowl..   Doesn't even go in the enclosure.    Any idea's please on how to help my baby.?     Goodbye my sweet precious Shadow Posted by: HelenMac - 11-20-2023, 12:54 AM - Forum: Ragdoll Loss - Replies (6) 24/10/2012  -  20/11/2023 The moment you left my heart split in two One side filled with memories The other died with you But you didn’t go alone Part of me went with you The tears won’t stop falling It was way too soon The soft warm fur I stroked And rumbling  purrs are gone Your favorite chair is empty And My lap is cold and empty If love alone could have saved you You never would have gone In life I loved you dearly In death I love you still I will hold you tightly within my heart And there you will forever remain Goodbye my sweet precious Shadow Until We meet again in heaven I will miss you more than words can say R.I.P      Shadow On his tower Posted by: HelenMac - 11-09-2023, 02:51 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Cat Gallery - Replies (1) One happy mum to see my boy enjoying the cat tower once again.   Shadow Posted by: HelenMac - 11-03-2023, 05:51 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (14) So its been a real tough month.   Shadow hasn't been right acting like he did last year when he ended up having his big surgery.  He won't jump on towers vomiting has increased again comes for cuddles but 2 seconds later jumps down  and  lies on the floor either in the bedroom or in the box behind my chair.. Comes out for a nibble then back to to sleep.   Cries if Zimba goes anywhere near him which Zimba is finding tuff he's so confused..   Been in contact with vet trying different things took him again  on Wednesday. Even vet said he looks miserable.  Was put on meds but no change vet rang last night to check on him and we had a big talk and decided Tuesday will take him in for  bloods and xrays. Unfortunately  if its the same thing he can't have surgery again.   Please pray for my boy that its  something else that can be fixed. I miss him not lying on me.  Especially as I had surgery two weeks ago normally he won't leave my side after surgery but this time round my healing angel isn't there for me and I so miss him.
