From the first moment you patted my leg to be picked up then crawled up under my chin for a cuddle you stole my heart.. You are such a super special gorgeous cuddly boy, from the moment you came into our home you have blessed me every day with your unconditional love and cuddles. Its such a honour  to be your mum and I wish you a Very Big Happy 10th Birthday Shadow I love you so very very much.     Where did spring go? The high for today is 8.  Yesterday was 20.   What a shock to the system.  Its cold as icy polar blast  hit New Zealand overnight. Will be here for a few days. Yuk.. Temps dropped between 15-20c in a matter of hours.  Even snowing in Wellington today.  Snow in Christchurch in October for first time in 53 years. Children happy as its school holidays so making the most of it  building snowmen.  Zimba is tucked up in bed and Shadow in the cat box.  I braved the elements to go feed my birds. Poor baby has had bad diarrhea been checked out turns out purina pro plan is full of fish and Zimba has never been able to handle too much fish shame cause he likes it so now need to find something else they can both have as they forever steal off each other and I can no longer stand there waiting for them to finish...Shadow is so slow and Zimba is a guts.  I have to feed on the table as I can no longer get to the floor..  I still have some packets of Royal Canin left over and took him into the enclosure and tried to feed him out there on it but he refused. Hard to believe  its 9 years since she delivered them to me.  They gave her lots cuddles.  Anyway we were talking about the fact that Shadow regularly vomits after eating so she asked what I feed him. Told her Royal Canin.  Well it  turns out she has Buddy from the same litter  and he can't have Royal Canin makes him vomit too. She also  said since Royal Canin moved to China she and alot of the breeders have stopped using it as found it wasn't as good anymore and were having issues with adult cats refusing to eat it and tummy upsets and were finding the kittens wern't thriving anymore so after trying various foods had changed to Purina pro plan.  When her and the groomer were grooming the boys they also noticed both boys coats were very oily and Shadow has bad dandruff which I knew but have never been able to get rid off even after many vet visits..  Anyway she gave me some samples of the purina pro plan kitten starter to give Shadow she said would give him a extra boost after the rough time he's been thru.  I told the vet about buddy and asked what he thought when took Shadow to get his stitches out. He said Purina pro plan is a good food so slowly transition them over a week  and see what happens. Was very interesting Zimba who was pretty much refusing all wet food lately is now happily eating wet food again with great gusto. I started by mixing the purina pro plan in with the royal canin well mr smarty pants (Zimba) would eat the purina and leave the royal canin in the bowl lol.   Zimba is still eating the royal canin dental mixed with the hills in his maze feeder to  finish the bag. At first he refused the purina pro plan oral kibble but over last couple days have seen him eating it..  Shadow is eating the Purina pro plan wet food and also the Purina pro plan oral with great gusto without any vomiting.  Its so nice to finally have a kibble I can give him and finally for the first time in years his dandruff is pretty much all gone.   2 very content boys and 1 very happy mum.   Shadow's unexpected trip to vet but he's okay Posted by: HelenMac - 09-13-2022, 03:07 PM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (2) My poor boy unbelievable.  Saturday was worming day so as usual did what I normally do part the fur and put profender on the back of both boys necks.  Both took off running  when I put it on.  I did think at the time it was very strong smelling. I noticed both boys seemed to be scratching which is unusual bit didn't think anything of it. Silly m    On Sunday I noticed shadow had scratched so bad he had a red bleeding  bald patch. I immediatly  bathed with normal saline and off to the vet we went again Monday as worried about infection.. Vet said definatley a reaction so no more profender for my boys.   Anyway had a antihistamine injection and got antibiotic cream to put on.  Zimba is okay thank goodness but was obviously irritated by it as I kept seeing him scratching and finding big clumps of his fur so tried to comb it out with a flea comb as for some reason this time left sticky patch on both their coats..   I did contact the distributor of profender and they paid for the vet visit and treatment.  Vet took photos to send to them.   Gabe did have a wonderful time cuddling Shadow though and Shadow was purring away head got higher and higher as Gabe was stroking under his chin.  Then Gabe  said to Shadow as much as I love cuddling you I have other patients to see its time to go. Shadow gave him a lick on his hand then jumped in his carrier ready to go home.   Shadow update Posted by: HelenMac - 09-07-2022, 02:50 AM - Forum: Ragdoll Health - Replies (3) Shadow had his stitches out today vet said he's healing well. Unfortunately he said it’s a guarded prognosis due to the unexplained lesion in his chest possibility of round cell neoplasia in his lungs. Has left me rather stunned. I’m praying it’s not.
